DESCRIPTION:Workshop on “Migration Statistics and the Recognition of Migrants’ Skills in Zimbabwe”\, 6-7 June 2023\, Harare\, Zimbabwe. \nEconomic Commission for Africa in collaboration with International Labour Organization organize a workshop to discuss the findings and recommendations of a study carried out to assess the availability of migration statistics in Zimbabwe and to also deliver a capacity building training sessions for stakeholders on the production of labour migration statistics and recognition of migrants’ skills. \nThe overall objectives of the workshop are:  \n\nTo present and discuss the final report on Migration Statistics in Zimbabwe prepared by UNECA in consultation with the technical working group\,\nTo share experiences on labour migration statistics and recognition of migrants’ skills with Zimbabwean stakeholders from the private sector\, NGOs\, academia\, and international organizations\,\nTo share experiences from other African countries on migration governance\,\nTo conduct capacity building sessions on labour migration statistics to improve the collection and management of migration data in Zimbabwe among different sectors.\n\n \n   Concept Note & Programme of WorkSize: 4 Mb

DESCRIPTION:The ECA Office for North Africa and Oxford Economics Africa organize a joint webinar to present and discuss a study on “Gender- Smart Investing in Support of Inclusive Growth in North Africa” \nThis study investigates both the entrepreneurial and the small to medium-sized business (SME) landscapes across the North African region with a specific focus on the role being fulfilled by women. Schwidrowski\, Director of the UN ECA office for North Africa\, which supports seven countries (Algeria\, Egypt\, Libya\, Mauritania\, Morocco\, Sudan and Tunisia) with a special focus on regional integration\, trade and employment\, especially through SMEs\, and the economic inclusion of women and youths. \n\n \n\n	 \nModerator\nAmal Nagah Elbeshbishi\, is working as an Economist for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa – Office for North Africa\, Morocco. She is also a tenured Professor of Economics at Faculty of Commerce- Mansoura University\, Egypt (on national assignment). \n\n \n\n	 \nCobus de Hart\, is currently the Director of Consulting at Oxford Economics Africa\, previously the company’s Chief Economist for North and West Africa. Cobus completed a D.Com in Economics at the University of South Africa. Cobus has been at Oxford Economics for nine years and has worked on a significant number of bespoke projects for both local and international clients\, governments and multilateral institutions. \n\n \n\n	 \nAmal Mowafy\, is the Chief of Party of USAID Egyptian Pioneers (a nine-year USD86m grant) implemented by the American University in Cairo (AUC). She is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at AUC Economics Department teaching Labor Economics (a capstone course with a co-created community based learning component) and a research fellow of the AUC Access to Knowledge for Development (A2K4D).
