SUMMARY:Reducing Africa's Skills Gap
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will be an opportunity to present the main conclusions and recommendations of the upcoming report on “Human Capital and Productive Employment Creation: Addressing Africa’s Skills Gap” and discuss how African countries can use the symbiotic relationship between skills supply and related sector developments to generate a virtuous chain reaction to accelerate their development and economic transformation.\nParticipants will seek to answer the following questions:\n – How can governments define the skills required to accelerate development in strategic\nsectors?\n – What are the conditions for accelerating the development of strategic sectors through\nhuman resources policies? What are the characteristics of the policy framework\nrequired to make this possible?\n – How can “brain drain” impact government policies and how can its effects be\n – circumvented?\n – Over the last 52 years\, drought-related hazards have led to economic losses of over\n$70 billion and contributed to a 34 per cent reduction in agricultural productivity growth\nin Africa since 1961. How can governments adapt their policies to mitigate the impact of climate change on their economies and workforces while harnessing the opportunities it brings to the table? \n \n Programme of WorkSize: 4 Mb \n Concept Note – ArabicSize: 142 Kb \n Concept Note – FrançaisSize: 131 Kb \n Concept Note – EnglishSize: 159 Kb \n \nSpeakers\n \n\n \nZuzana B.
