Schwidrowski\, Director of the UN ECA office for North Africa\, which supports seven countries (Algeria\, Egypt\, Libya\, Mauritania\, Morocco\, Sudan and Tunisia) with a special focus on regional integration\, trade and employment\, especially through SMEs\, and the economic inclusion of women and youths. \n\n \n\n	 \nLeila Doukkali\, is the Chairwoman of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Morocco (AFEM). The founder of Variations and head of the family baking business « La Viennoise »\, she is also the is Vice-chairwoman of Fédération Marocaine du Commerce en Réseau (FMCR) and an administrator at the Morocco national business association CGEM. \n\n \n\n	 \nSoumaya Iraqui Houssaini\, is the Chief of the Employment and Skills for Balanced Development Section at the ECA Office for North Africa where she works on topics related to women’s employment\, youth\, skills development\, SME ecosystems development and entrepreneurship\, innovation and technological development. \n\n \n\n	 \nElena Bardasi\, is a Senior Economist at the World Bank with a background in labor economics\, poverty\, and gender. She has provided key contributions to the reports on the Impacts of Community Driven Development Interventions on Women’s Empowerment\, and on Social Safety Nets and Gender. \n\n \n\n	 \nSouad Tarmidi\, is the first vice-president of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Morocco (AFEM) in charge of digital transformation. In 1999\, she created Match Eurosoft Maghreb\, which has become one of the best Sage competency centers for SMEs in Morocco. She later partnered with the French group SRA informatique to create SRA Afrique. \n\n \n\n	 \nIhssane Iraqui\, is a women in business programme manager at EBRD. She manages partnerships on behalf of the CGEM and the EBRD and works with NGOs for the socio-economic integration of young people. Her goal is to help SMEs implement best practices and develop connections with stakeholders for a lasting impact on entrepreneurship. \n\n \n\n	 \nCallee Davis\, is an Economist at Oxford Economics Africa. She is the company’s lead analyst on the North African region\, and aside from compiling macroeconomic forecasts\, she frequently presents findings to clients and at conferences and contributes to research assignments for both local and international clients\, governments and multilateral institutions.

SUMMARY:Reducing Africa's Skills Gap
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will be an opportunity to present the main conclusions and recommendations of the upcoming report on “Human Capital and Productive Employment Creation: Addressing Africa’s Skills Gap” and discuss how African countries can use the symbiotic relationship between skills supply and related sector developments to generate a virtuous chain reaction to accelerate their development and economic transformation.\nParticipants will seek to answer the following questions:\n – How can governments define the skills required to accelerate development in strategic\nsectors?\n – What are the conditions for accelerating the development of strategic sectors through\nhuman resources policies? What are the characteristics of the policy framework\nrequired to make this possible?\n – How can “brain drain” impact government policies and how can its effects be\n – circumvented?\n – Over the last 52 years\, drought-related hazards have led to economic losses of over\n$70 billion and contributed to a 34 per cent reduction in agricultural productivity growth\nin Africa since 1961. He manages the company’s macroeconomic subscription services. Jacques joined the company in 2013 and his research interests include risk assessment and the drivers behind development. \n\n \n\n	 \nMactar Seck\, is the ECA Chief of Technology and Innovation Section\, Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)\, where he oversees the Coordination of the Digital Centre of Excellence on Digital ID\, Digital Trade\, and Digital Economy (DITE4Africa). Mactar specializes in Internet governance\, digital infrastructures\, digital policy and regulatory frameworks. \n\n \n\n	 \nRachâa Bedjaoui-Chaouche\, from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) is the STED-AMT “Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification :Aligning skills strategically with sector development” Project Manager for Algeria\, Morocco and Tunisia. The project is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
