The Sub-Regional Coordination Mechanism for North Africa (SRMC-North Africa) aims to promote information sharing, discuss sub-regional priorities and initiatives and strengthen collaboration between United Nations organizations, development partners and the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA) so as to provide coordinated and relevant support to sub-regional priorities. It should also contribute to consolidating links between the regional, sub-regional and national levels. More specifically, the SRCM should facilitate the planning and implementation of joint initiatives to support Member States' efforts to implement and monitor the objectives of the African Union's Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030). The SRCM-North Africa is co-chaired by the ECA Office for North Africa and the General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA). The annual consultative meeting of the SRCM-North Africa held in Rabat, Morocco, on 1-2 March 2018 resulted in the adoption of a regional roadmap (2018-2019) to support the achievement of SDGs in North Africa.
